My Life

WW (Weight Watchers and Waffle-less Wimpers)

Do you miss me? I miss you too. Life has been crazy. Did you know that insurance has a busy season? Cuz it does apparently. Apparently everything goes haywire in January and again in July. I haven’t been posting much because I started a new adventure. I started Weight Watchers. I started it a little over a month ago and it is going well, down 7 lbs but I haven’t mastered fully enjoying what I am eating yet. I believe that enjoying what you are eating is the diet mecca that everyone wants to get to. That place where you can look at a pile of baby carrots and think “what a good snack” instead of “at least these are the same color as Doritos”. I’m still in my first stage of food grieving, “denial”. I keep thinking there must be a healthy option at In N Out or Mexican food isn’t that bad for me. I can see myself slowly creeping up to “bargaining”. I’ll tell barbecue man that I’ll take a walk if we get something sweet and then I conveniently get too busy with my ice cream to walk. (more…)

South Your Mouth has been making my mouth water

So this isn’t a food or a life blog really. This is just me being excited and wanting to share things with you. I just wanted to drop a line to say how much I have been enjoying another blog. The other day I bumped into the blog South Your Mouth, and I have been addicted ever since. The blog is written by a sassy southern lady named Mandy Rivers. (more…)

Spring Fever

I have spring fever in more than one way right now. I am both a human pile of used tissues due to my horrible allergies, as well as too excited for Easter to function. See what I did there with my double meanings for spring fever?

I won’t bore you with the grody details of my spring allergies, because I am sure, chances are you probably have them too. Lets just say I feel like I look an awful lot like that booger wearing  the suspenders in the Mucinex commercials. (more…)

Learning a thing or two about Mac and Cheese at Homeroom

So I know you are all going to hate me, but for a long time I have not been a fan of mac and cheese. I know…it’s a crime. Processed with VSCOcam with f2 presetFor some reason mac and cheese is America’s sweetheart of squishy cheesy dishes, but it never has really been a favorite of mine. Growing up, my parents, like most parents, fixed Kraft macaroni and cheese. I think this is where my dislike for mac and cheese comes from. Maybe it was the neon orange color, or the squish noise it makes when you swirl a spoon around in it, or the soggy texture the noodles get when you over-cook them, but most likely it was all of the above. Jet-setting Business Mogul

This past week I was living the fast-paced, jet-setting lifestyle of a business mogul. Just kidding, I went on a business trip to Orange County for an insurance seminar. I think I prefer the first sentence, though. I work in the ever-changing, creative, innovative, definitely not full of old grumpy men, world of insurance and this week the world of insurance was located in Orange County, California. But jokes aside, I actually love my job. The people are sweet and the work is just challenging enough to make me feel like a genius math savant. It’s a good boost for my ego, because math has never been my strong suit so I always feel extra accomplished at the end of the day because my job is pretty analytical and number oriented. I digress. My New Hobby

This morning I woke up and realized that I need a hobby. I think this is a realization most people come to, especially around my age. I am 23, which according to Blink 182 is an age when no one likes you. I am starting to wonder if there is some truth in this 90’s-pop-punk wisdom. I graduated college about a year ago and moved from a big city back into my suburban home town. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not complaining, this move has brought amazing things for me: a new job and an incredibly handsome boyfriend…but it definitely didn’t leave me time for any hobbies. Now that I have graduated my life is completely different. (more…)
